Growing up in Earls Barton our parents joked about us opening an opticians in the village one day and 25 years later we finally did - just in Higham Ferrers!

We grew up going to an independent optician where we were made to feel like a friend as much as a patient and it is this feeling that I would like to emulate at Higham Eye Care. I followed Hannah to Aston University to gain my degree in Optometry and took my preregistration year with a large company optician. Once fully qualified I continued to work for different companies until 2017 when I decided to start locuming. It was my first experience of working in an independent practice and I loved it. Being able to spend longer with my patients and getting to know them and help them as much as possible really resonated with me - so much so that I persuaded Hannah to consider having a practice of our own just as our parents had suggested years before.

Away from being an optometrist I am a Mum of three, one of whom is autistic. I hope this encourages families with special needs, either adults or children, to feel comfortable being tested by me. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, pilates and cooking.

I have wanted to be an optometrist ever since I started wearing contact lenses from the age of about 9 years old, and have now been qualified over 20 years after studying at Aston University. As a child I went to a local independent opticians which had that homely, friendly feel and even followed my optometrist when he opened up his own practice as I had built up a trust with him.

I enjoy meeting new and interesting people, striving to provide the best possible service and care for each and every patient that I see. So, having worked for large multiple opticians for many years, when I started locuming in 2014 in independent practice I enjoyed being able to spend more time with patients.

Outside of the testing room, I enjoy yoga, gardening and being an aunty. I also volunteer at a cat shelter and have a basic understanding of British Sign Language. I am Level 1 accredited and am currently studying Level 2.
